Enticing a Minor for Indecent Purposes

The act of enticing, soliciting, persuading, or taking any child under 16 years of age to any place whatsoever for the purpose of child molestation or other indecent acts may face charges of "enticing a minor for indecent purposes" in Georgia. This is a felony offense, unless the defendant is 18 years of age or younger and the victim is 14 to 16 years of age, in which case it may be charged as a misdemeanor.

If you have been accused of enticing a minor, your entire future may be at stake. It is crucial that you consult an attorney as soon as possible. Enticing a minor for indecent purposes may be linked to other criminal offenses, including statutory rape, sodomy, molestation, child pornography, and more. These offenses may also be related to the use of the internet, when the alleged offender attempts to or succeeds in luring a minor in a chat room or via email or other communication over the internet.

Whatever the circumstances of your case, the lawyers at Conaway & Strickler, P.C. are here to help. We are experienced in defending clients who are facing charges involving sex crimes against children, and we will apply our knowledge and resources to aggressively defending your rights throughout the criminal process. When you work with an Atlanta sex crime lawyer at our firm, your case is in good hands.

Penalties for Enticing a Minor in Atlanta, Georgia

The penalty for enticing a minor for indecent purposes is 10 to 30 years imprisonment. Because enticing a minor is considered a "sexual offense" under Georgia law, the defendant will not be granted probation or parole of any portion of the mandatory minimum sentence that may be imposed. However, the defendant will face an additional probated sentence of at least one year. (Note: there are particular circumstances where the court may deviate from the mandatory minimum sentence, but these are limited. An attorney can evaluate your particular case to determine whether you may qualify.)
